The reality of a Trafficked Brazilian Woman (Luana)
In the United States, when those responsible are tried for this crime, the victim or the victim's family has the right to present a letter called Impact Letter. This letter has no page limit, and is a completely open space for them to suggest which penalty should be applied.
The letter that will be presented to you today is from a young Brazilian woman who was trafficked to the United States in 2016 and was rescued, with my help, just hours before New Year's Eve 2019.
Regarding today's case, some names in this letter have been changed to preserve the identity of the victim and families.
